چکیده

We discuss possible mechanisms that may impact the order of transition between denaturated and bound DNA states lead to changes in scaling laws govern conformational properties strands. To this end, we re-consider Poland-Scheraga model apply a polymer field theory approach calculate entropic exponents associated with loop distribution. particular variants occur due solution affect self- mutual interaction both single double find effects studied significantly influence strength first transition. This is manifest by strand As quantitative measure these present values corresponding exponents. For $d=4-\varepsilon$ case get $\varepsilon^4$ expansions evaluate perturbation at space dimension $d=3$ means resummation technique.

Thermal denaturation of A-DNA

The DNA molecule can take various conformational forms. Investigations focus mainly on the so-called ‘B-form’, schematically drawn in the famous paper by Watson and Crick [1]. This is the usual form of DNA in a biological environment and is the only form that is stable in an aqueous environment. Other forms, however, can teach us much about DNA. They have the same nucleotide base pairs for ‘bui...

Thermal denaturation of a helicoidal DNA model.

We study the static and dynamical properties of DNA in the vicinity of its melting transition, i.e., the separation of the two strands upon heating. The investigation is based on a simple mechanical model which includes the helicoidal geometry of the molecule and allows an exact numerical evaluation of its thermodynamical properties. Dynamical simulations of long-enough molecular segments allow...

Effect of defects on thermal denaturation of DNA oligomers.

Effect of defects on the melting profile of short heterogeneous DNA chains is calculated using the Peyrard-Bishop Hamiltonian. On-site potential on a defect site is represented by a potential that has only a short-range repulsion and a flat part without well of the Morse potential. Stacking energy between two neigbouring pairs involving a defect site is also modified. The results are found to b...

Effects of mechanical strain on thermal denaturation of DNA

A class of simple statistical mechanical models for DNA melting, first proposed by Poland and Scheraga, have been demonstrated to exhibit first or second order thermodynamic singularity, notwithstanding the intrinsic one-dimensional nature of the problem. In the present paper we show that the inclusion of twist elastic energy in the Poland-Scheraga models either leads to suppression of the ther...

Thermal denaturation and template activities of reconstituted DNA-histone complexes.

Reconstituted complexes of DNA with histone were prepared by salt-and-urea step gradient dialysis. The DNA was complexed with histone H1, with the combination of the other four histones H2A, H2B, H3 and H4, and with whole histones. These DNA-histone complexes were purified by Bio-Gel column chromatography, and the weight ratio of histone-to-DNA was determined in each complex. The thermal denatu...
